A poor second half performance summed up Alfold's season.....
Having beaten the league leaders Holbrook 2 weeks back with a real team performance 0-1, they failed to build upon it.
Two second half goals from Pulborough on the slope was the difference - but if Fold had taken there own chances in the first half then it would have been another story. A couple of clearcut opportunities missed in the first half, with the keeper making a good save on one occasion - a post hit, crossbar, clearance off the line all meant it was 0-0 with the away team rueing missed chances.
Gary Stevens opened the scoring 3 minutes after the re-start to put Boro into the lead and then the hard work began with the yellow and greens unable to get going in the second 45. The home team added a second on around 70mins to put the game out of reach.
Manager Paul Cooper said "its the story of our season, too inconsistent. One week we look like we can beat any team in this division and the next we can look very average. Its something we have to address as a team and put it right. Boro took there chances today and we didnt, that simply was the difference..we have to face upto that and put it right in our next match". |
